Vermicomposting

mrgardener.jpg

Well the last post was about composting.  In my travels around the web I came across an interesting article on "For the First Time about Vermicomposting.  Which according to the Wikipedia is:

Vermicompost (also called worm compost, vermicast, worm castings, worm humus or worm manure) is the end-product of the breakdown of organic matter by some species of earthworm.  Vermicompost is a nutrient-rich, natural fertilizer and soil conditioner. The process of producing vermicompost is called vermicomposting .

He posts about his adventure in building his own compost bin and has a video of it.  I was inspired by his effort and will be interested in any future posts on how it worked.

It would have been nice if he had included his bin building plans on the post.  But the pictures help you imagine how to build one.  Plus you can always search online for resources  on how to build  a worm composting bin.

Read his post, you might be inspired to start composting yourself.

Until the next time,

Terri Ann Craig
